Who is Kyle Rittenhouse?

Kyle Rittenhouse is a young 18-year-old boy. He is from Antioch, Illinois. He shoot two people dead and one got injured by an AR-15 type semi-automatic assault rifle on December 25, 2020. This happened in Kenosha, Wisconsin riots after the police shooting of Jacob Blake (black man).

Kyle Rittenhouse was charged with two counts of homicide and one count of attempted homicide including Curfew violation, two reckless endangerments, and one unlawful possession of a firearm. Kyle Rittenhouse claims that he did all of this in his self-defense. The trial took place from 1 November 2021 to 19 November 2021. Kyle Rittenhouse was found not guilty of all charges in the verdict. A jury acquitted 18 years old Kyle Rittenhouse from all charges.

Protest erupts all around America after the Kyle Rittenhouse case verdict. Demonstrators start protests including New York City, Kenosha, Washington D.C, Portland, Chicago, Colombia, Ohio, San Francisco, Oakland, and California. Protestors gather outside the courthouse in anger at the verdict. Some protestors have played cards written against the verdict on play cards. Wisconsin Government activated about 500 National Guard to stand by in case of emergency. But there were no major clashes occurred.

This verdict has increased the separation between leftists and rightists. Left political parties are condemning the verdict while the right political parties are supporting the verdict. Right political parties and their followers are saying that self-defense is not illegal.

President Joe Biden’s reaction.

President Joe Biden also reacts to this verdict. He said, “He supported the jury’s decision and urged Americans to react with calm.”

“While the verdict in Kenosha will leave many Americans feeling angry and concerned, myself including, we must acknowledge that the jury has spoken.” He added.

Kyle Rittenhouse’s reaction.

Kyle Rittenhouse sobbed and collapse forward on the table after the speaker reached the point that Kyle Rittenhouse was found not guilty on all five points.

 Kyle Rittenhouse gave an interview to a national news channel. He said “The jury reached the correct verdict. Self-defense is not illegal. And I believe they came to the correct verdict and I’m glad that everything went well.”

“It’s been a rough journey, but we made it through it. We made it through the hard part.” He added.

Prosecutor Reaction

Prosecutor was disappointed with the verdict. Lead prosecutor Thomas Binger said, “the jury has represented our community in this trail and has spoken.”

He also made a statement outside the courthouse “while we are disappointed with the verdict, it must be respected. We ask that members of our community continue to express their opinions and feelings about the verdict in a civil and peaceful manner.”
